This site is written and maintained by one person, Sardar Arslan. There is no team behind it and no office. Naming that plainly matters more than it might seem: a reader deciding whether to trust a price should know exactly who stands behind it.

Sardar Arslan is an individual operating a website, not a registered company. There is no company number and no registered office, because there is no company. That is expected to change, and when it does the details will appear in the footer of every page and on this one. Until then, nothing here will imply otherwise.

Car repair pricing is hard to check. A garage quotes a number, and unless you have had the same job done recently on the same car, you have no way to tell whether it is ordinary or high. The information exists, in trade surveys and published rate data, and almost none of it reaches the person paying the bill.

Most sites that claim to answer this produce a figure with no source attached, or a national average presented as though it applied to your street. A number with no working behind it is not research, and it does not help you decide whether to accept a quote.

So the rule here is that every figure names where it came from, when it was published, and how confident we are in it. Where we cannot do that, we publish nothing at all. Our methodology page sets out the formula and both sources in full.

• Publishes researched price ranges for common repairs and services, broken down by parts, labour and VAT.
• Adjusts labour by region, because an hour of a mechanic’s time is not priced the same in London as in Yorkshire.
• States the age and the sample size behind every rate, so you can see how much weight a figure carries.
• Lists independent garages from the public DVSA record of MOT test stations.

These are the things it would be easy to imply and are not true.

• We do not carry out repairs. No workshop, no mechanics, no vehicles. We compare prices and nothing more.
• We take no payment for any job. No booking, no deposit, no commission. Money for work goes to the garage directly, and we are not party to that agreement.
• We have not inspected any garage. Listings come from a public register of MOT test stations. Being listed is a record that a business is licensed to test vehicles, and is not a recommendation from us.
• We do not warranty anyone’s work. Any guarantee on a repair is between you and the garage that did it.
• A price here is not a quote. We have not seen your car. The garage confirms the price once it has.

How the site pays for itself

Garages pay to be listed. Drivers pay nothing, and a garage paying does not move a price or a ranking. That is set out in full on how we make money.
